Copenhagen-based International Sperm Bank has addressed itself to finding a loophole in the country´s laws on egg donation.

Last week the bank´s press service announced the opening of Cryos´s offices in other countries, for example in Spain, Greece and Cyprus. Danish women were offered not only the minimal compensation but also ¨wellness holidays¨ in order to become egg donors. Every woman that wishes to be an egg donor will be able to donate her eggs anonymously or to specific patients.

The action is topical due to the fact that the egg donor compensation in Denmark is 2-4 times lower than in many other countries. The bank's experts decided that participation in the donation program combined with a holiday abroad will enable Danish women to receive the compensation up to 11 000 kroner, depending on the destination country. By comparison, women are entitled to a maximum of 2 400 kroner on the territory of Denmark.
